In all these years we have made close friendly relations with the local population, we have initiated environmental projects and training, bringing the boys and girls of the villages to learn the maze of the empty labyrinth opening beneath their feet. We have worked together with the Reserva de la Selva El Ocote Biosphere, the Universities of Tuxla Gutierrez, the Municipality of Cintalapa de Figueroa. Two years ago we founded the Centro de Estudio Kársticos La Venta, an association aimed at the documentation and preservation of karstic environments, and to specific training. We are building a documentation center that will allow us to accomodate explorers and scholars from all around the world. So we are going to travel again. We will stay some days in the tropical vegetation, listening to the stories that the water has to tell us, after crossing the mountains. We will explore, draw topographic surveys, shoot photographs, collect notes. And, as always, at the exit , we will be invaded by the intense and comforting scent of the plant world. In that green universe we will do great treks: miles, and hours of sweat in the company of our campesino friends, who have always accompanied us, advised us, shown us the way. We have been knowing them from when, still children, they used to follow us, out of curiosity. Together we will walk on lawns of sensitive mimosa, we will suffer the mosquitos and ticks, trying to avoid the fearsome spines of the chichòn. We'll be delighted to watch the hummingbirds that, at dawn, come to visit us at the camp. We will listen to the crickets’ amok in the middle of the night full of stars. Around the fire, we will tell of past and future explorations, we will charge our eyes with emotions, and we will take them home like that, a bit shinier.
