One of the first steps of the new association will be the creation of a register of the caves, in agreement with the local speleological groups and with all the people that have worked until now in this land. On the other side will be carried on several documenting and popularizing projects to promote the environmental consciousness and territory conservation.
In these days in Chiapas is taking place a mission aimed to start the new association, to strenghten our contacts and to renew the collaboration agreements with several institutions, among them the Reserva de la Biosfera Selva El Ocote. We are working also on the preparation of the next explorative expeditions, and in two days’ time a small group will go into the forest to carry on the surveys. The wet season has been poor of water, thus the progression will be less difficult.
In the meantime we have presented the new association by public conferences and television interviews. The main event happened this morning at the auditorium of the Universidad de Ciencias y Artes de Chiapas, in Tuxtla Gutiérrez: with videos, photos and stories Tullio Bernabei lead the public in a journey of over twenty years of exploration in these lands, from the birth of La Venta Association till the present days. Besides the president, Roberto Domìnguez Castellanos, watched the presentation several members of parliament, professors and students of the university.
After the celebration of its twentieth anniversary, La Venta plants a new seed, right in the places where it was born and that inspired its name.
