To reach the cave, explored by the Akakor team in 2006, required 2-3 hours of walking since the entrance is located about 6 km from the camp. Therefore made it necessary the installation of an advanced field in proximity of the cave.
Few days ago the cave was redescent again and surveied, although it was not possible to find the passage that reaches the maximum depth reported by the previous expeditions.
But the most interesting news came from a recognition along one of the streams that flow near the main base camp. The water, in fact, is swallowed by a tunnel cave surveied for over 300 meters, with also unique speleothems that had never been documented on other tepui.
It was spent much time to make a photographic documentation of the cavity, while other searches in the area made it possible to clarify the general potential of the massif.
Now the time is ended and they are descending to the boats. Even the return journey will be long and difficult.
Next meeting in Barcelos, where the group will finally cool off with a good "cerveja".
