Finally, once get back, we can give you news of the Qala Cave Project expedition.
The big pit has been down to the bottom (562 meters) and finally a serious photo documentation has been made. What is not easy with 640 meters of ropes, 9 hours of tip and only 6C of internal temperature.
Many reconnaissance in the area looking for new cavities with the detection of various pits. But, in particular, one has given the expected result. The new Ghizalan cave, very muddy, at times narrow and with very low internal temperatures, was detected up to -430 but explored up to -450. There unfortunately the ropes are over and that has to be stopped on a pit to go down. It promises very well and can give great satisfaction in the future.
All the camp, with Iranians, Italians, Spanish and French, was really tough. The altitude and the extremely dry air did not help in recovering energy. Even so, it was the poor food, fortunately well cooked by an Iranian friend. And taking water to 130 meters deep in a cave gave us the final shot.
The 6-hour path to get off at full speed to reach a downstream source was the final blow. But the cold spring and a nice shower once arrived at Kermanshah have made their job.
Now we have to wait next year to return to this karst paradise!
